Rules for Safety, Security, and Order

Physical Safety

  • Follow posted safety guidelines and use protective equipment when required.
  • Report unsafe conditions or hazards immediately to supervisors.

Protection of Equipment/Facilities

  • Use university equipment only for authorized purposes.
  • Keep work areas clean and avoid actions that may damage facilities.
  • Failure to maintain clean, orderly, and sanitary conditions in any area, whether on-duty or off-duty, is grounds for immediate termination.

Security of Customers and Staff

  • Display ID badges when on-duty and comply with security checks by LMU Public Safety when requested.
  • Do not allow unauthorized individuals into restricted areas.

Prevention of Harassment or Violence

  • Refrain from abusive, threatening, or intimidating behavior.
  • Maintain professional boundaries and treat everyone with respect.

These rules apply any time someone (TA or not) is in the lab.

Rules for Workplace Operations and Conduct

Maintaining Smooth Operations

  • Avoid creating excessive noise or disturbances in work areas especially during business hours.
  • Follow established procedures to prevent unnecessary interruptions.

Caring for Property

  • Handle all university property with care.
  • Use tools and equipment according to instructions to prevent damage.
  • Failure to maintain clean, orderly, and sanitary conditions in any area, whether on-duty or off-duty, is grounds for immediate termination.

Supporting TAs and Students

  • Do not obstruct others’ workspaces or impede their duties.
  • Communicate and collaborate in a manner that supports others’ responsibilities.

Upholding Health and Safety Standards

  • Adhere to all hygiene, sanitation, and safety protocols.
  • Comply with emergency procedures and evacuation rules.
  • Failure to maintain clean, orderly, and sanitary conditions in any area, whether on-duty or off-duty, is grounds for immediate termination.
